Get Well Michelle: Part II

Well it all started with the lost tickets. How does on lose an envelope full of tickets for an event you have waited a year to attend? Well I did it. My tickets to the St. Louis 2006 National Figure Skating competition have disappeared. Luckily, I think they will be replaced.

The bad luck continues. Yesterday I rush to check out the FORUM because I had read Michelle was going to have a press conference. Couldn't be good news I thought.

I never thought the news would be this:
Kwan withdraws from Nationals because of groin injury.
Groin injury, a second injury in one year. Is 26 too old?

Here are a few articles about the impending controversy that may occur is chosen or not chosen to the Olympic team:

Even Christine Brennan believes Michelle deserves an Olympic spot:

I have to admit, I shed a few tears. Michelle Kwas is the purist of athletes. I've told the story countless times of watching Michelle nail a long program practice ( to no music )while dodging 4 other skaters practicing their short programs and one doing a run through with music. I may never see Michelle practice again. I may never see Michelle compete again.

I have had the opportunity to see Michelle skate a 6.0 performance. Spartacus at 2005 Nationals.

I also got Michelle's autograph. I stood above her at the boards after the medal ceremony, handed her a Sharpie and my 6.0 sign. She smiled and spoke to us. Of course my camera battery had just died, and Vincent, Mr. Camera bug was no where to be seen. I said to Michelle: Look out Moscow or something like that. She chuckled and said yeah! I had a conversation with Michelle Kwan.

I don't know. Her skating is magical. She did lose that magic at 2005 Worlds. It was the Code of Points. The new scoring system made Michelle think too damn much as she skated.

So Michelle, my belle, please get well. USFSA please place Michelle on the Olympic team.

I'll have fun in St. Loius, but it won't be the same without our Michelle!
